Values
The strategic objective of the CGRS consists of being a key organisation with the following characteristics:
- open, i.e. with a transparent operation, maximum accessibility and customer-friendliness, user-friendly;
- reliable, i.e. good-quality decisions can be taken quickly by competent people via streamlined procedures;
- decisive; i.e. the organisation is capable of reacting to fast-changing circumstances without sacrificing quality or speed of action.
In 2001 the CGRS adopted a charter on which all employees agreed.
The CGRS takes decisions that have considerable consequences for asylum seekers. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that CGRS employees respect certain values and act according to certain rules.
The CGRS offers efficiency and quality based on the following values:
- respect: tolerance, an open mind, respect for people’s individual character, beliefs and qualities;
- impartiality: each application for asylum is studied individually and without prejudice. Decisions are taken irrespective of personal interests, preferences or feelings.
- integrity: reliability, fairness.
Based on these values, CGRS employees act with empathy, responsibility, competence, decisiveness, coherence, professional commitment, team spirit, loyalty, openness and clarity.
Moreover, the CGRS is characterised by its young and educated employees. The large majority are university graduates, and the average age of employees is 37.5.
