Obtaining subsidiary protection for one´s children

A beneficiary of subsidiary protection status can obtain subsidiary protection for his/her children.

• Children who arrived in Belgium together with the foreigner will be granted subsidiary protection status if the foreigner has made a request to this end during his asylum procedure. This means concretely that his/her children have to be mentioned in the Annex 25 or 26.
• Children who arrive in Belgium after subsidiary protection has been granted must be reported to the Immigration Department and an asylum application has to be introduced in their name.
• Children born in Belgium after subsidiary protection has been granted will be registered by the municipal authorities in the aliens register upon presentation of a birth certificate.
