Staying in Belgium
Subsidiary protection status entails the right to stay inBelgium, at first for a limited period of time. The municipal authorities of the place of residence deliver a ‘Certificate of registration in the aliens register’ to beneficiaries of subsidiary protection. This certificate is valid 1 year and can be extended or renewed. After 5 years from the introduction of his/her asylum application, a beneficiary of subsidiary protection is entitled to stay for an unlimited period of time.
