Beneficiary of subsidiary protection status: person who has been granted subsidiary protection. This person is a foreigner who does not meet the conditions for recognition as a refugee, and who cannot be granted the right of residence for medical reasons, and who runs a real risk of serious harm in case of return to his/her country of origin.

Blue passport: the only document that allows a refugee to travel abroad. This document is also referred to as ‘refugee travel document’. It can be applied for with the Passports Service of the Brussels Capital Region or the provincial capitals.
