   Ending: decision of the CGRS that ends the refugee or subsidiary protection status when this form of protection is no longer necessary or justified, for instance when the circumstances based on which he/she was recognised as a refugee or granted subsidiary protection status have ceased to exist.

    European Union member states: on 1 January 2007 the following countries were members of the European Union: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Rumania, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Czech Republic.

   Exclusion: decision of the CGRS which implies that no international protection will be granted to a person who would otherwise meet the criteria to obtain refugee status, or that subsidiary protection status will not be granted. For instance, exclusion applies to persons for whom there are substantial reasons to believe that they have committed a crime against peace, a crime against humanity, a serious offence or acts contrary to the goals and principles of the United Nations.
