   Unaccompanied minor: foreign national younger than 18 years old who comes from a country outside the European Union and is staying on the territory without being accompanied by a person who has parental responsibility or guardianship of him/her according to the national legislation on minors. In addition, unaccompanied minors must be in one of the following situations: either have made an application for asylum, or not meet the conditions for access to the territory and residence laid down by the Act of 15 December 1980.

   Undocumented or illegal immigrant: illegal or undocumented immigrant: person who does not have a residence permit that is valid in the country where he/she is staying, and who is staying there without authorisation to do so, either because he/she entered the country illegally or because he/she entered legally and became illegal afterwards.
