Policy change regarding Mogadishu

A thorough assessment of the present situation in Mogadishu shows that the situation is still problematic and that many people are still in need of protection. However, it also appears that the situation is not such that every person from Mogadishu runs a real risk of falling victim to indiscriminate violence.

Because of the aforementioned reasons, asylum applicants are no longer granted subsidiary protection status merely because they come from Mogadishu.

The CGRS still assesses on an individual basis if there are any indications of a well-founded fear of persecution or a real risk in case of return. If there are such indications, refugee status or subsidiary protection status will be granted. If not, the CGRS will not grant international protection.
