Asylum statistics of April 2012

The CGRS has published the statistics of April (PDF, 742 Kb). Some remarks on these statistics:

In April 2012, 1,656 applications for asylum were filed in Belgium, which implies a decrease of 6.4% in comparison with March.
In April, the main countries of origin were Afghanistan (14.3% of the total number of applications), Guinea (6%), Russia (7.5%), the RD Congo (6%) and Pakistan (4.3%). Iraq, Kosovo, Serbia, Macedonia and Albania complete the top 10 of the countries of origin.
In April, 247 decisions to grant refugee status and 86 decisions to grant subsidiary protection were taken (on a total of 1,594 decisions).
