Asylum statistics of February 2012

The CGRS has published the statistics of February 2012 (PDF, 433.53 Kb). Some remarks on these statistics:

In February 2012, 1884 applications for asylum were filed in Belgium, which implies a decrease of 12,8% in comparison with January 2012 and a decrease of 22,6% in comparison with December 2011.
In February, the main countries of origin were Afghanistan (12,6% of the total number of applications), Guinea (7,7%), Russia (7,2%), the DR Congo (6,3%) and Bangladesh (4,9%). Kosovo, Iraq, Pakistan, Cameroon and Armenia complete the top 10 of the countries of origin.
In February, 222 decisions to grant refugee status and 54 decisions to grant subsidiary protection were taken (on a total of 1636 decisions).
