A new guide for unaccompanied minors

The CGRS publishes a new guide for unaccompanied minors who apply for asylum in Belgium, and for their guardians.

The ‘Guide for unaccompanied minors who apply for asylum in Belgium’ is part of the CGRS’s legal obligation to provide information. Guardians can consult this guide in Dutch, French or English at www.cgrs.be/en/publications.

As from 24 February 2017, unaccompanied minors who speak French or English receive this guide at the Immigration Office when they apply for asylum in our country.

The guide will also be available in the following languages in April: Arab, Pulaar, Dari, Pashto, Somali, Tigrinya and Albanian. From then on, every unaccompanied minor will receive the guide in the language of his or her choice when registering an asylum application at the Immigration Office.

The CGRS thanks its partners (the Immigration Office, Fedasil and the Guardianship Service) for their support with the distribution of this brochure. It is in the child’s best interest to receive correct information on his or her rights in Belgium.

This guide is published with the support of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).
